Tautoro Schools New Tohu

This morning my school had unveiled our schools new tohu. Our old tohu had been taken off because it was too old and the wood in the Tohu began to rot.

Our Kotero Kohuroa got given the honour to release the Whariki off the school Tohu for our tupuna and our school.Matua Mitai called everyone together for a karakia and a himene.Matua Mitai began to do a mihi for our Tohu.After he had finished nana Winnie called Kohuroa up so she can take the Wharaki off the Tohu.Kohuroa took the Whariki off the Tohu and everyone glanced and gazed staring at the beautiful Tohu everyone was amazed about how awesome our Tohu was.

Nana Winnie told Matua Eric to come up and talk about the Tohu that he had carved. a new beautiful tohu that had been made for our school. Matua Eric has been carving this tohu since last Christmas. So it took him a long time to carve it. Nana Winnie explained the importance of the tohu and why he made it. Our old tohu was made from Matua Eric’s dad.

We asked Matua Eric some questions about the tohu and he gave us the answers.After we had finished giving Matua Eric our questions.We had finished off with a school photo and we prepared to get back into work.
